Deciduous Shrubs

  

Deciduous Shrubs create a spectacular garden show each Spring and Summer with their  varied  colors, textures and varieties.  Some have interesting fruit and bark that bring color, texture and interest to the landscape throughout the year.  They deserve a place in every landscape.  Given plenty of room, and planted as if they were fully-grown, watered well, especially during their first year of growth and these carefree shrubs will delight you for years to come.

Glossy abelia hybrid is compact, bushy and somewhat spreading.  Clusters of lavender-pink, funnel-shaped flowers from Mid-Summer to Fall.

Firethorn Rutgers - Pyracantha coccinea 'Rutgers'

Compact, sprawling shrub with narrow glossy dark green leaves and abundant orange-red berries and needle-like spines to 3/4" long. Profuse clusters of tiny white flowers appear in spring on spurs along the prior year's wood. Flowers are unpleasantly aromatic. Flowers give way to pea-sized orange fruits which ripen in September and persist into winter.

Huge, semi-double 12" spherical flower heads are pure pastel pink in neutral to basic soil, or sky blue in very acid soil.  Blooms last 2 months or more and are followed by a bouquet of several smaller side-clusters next to each primary flower head. Attractive, glossy foliage.
